As part of the large FinTech movement, a lot of companies are facing the decision whether to build an internal fraud engine or pay an (expensive) external provider. This is a complicated choice that needs to be based on taking into consideration both technical and business expertise. We want to present our experience and a sum of the many considerations that lead us to decide for one option rather than the other.

At Curve, we have a large payment system; like many other companies, we’re trying to protect ourselves from fraud. In the last months, we’ve integrated Siftscience, a famous fraud engine, into our payment system to prevent and block fraud. Before deciding what to do, we spent some time evaluating an in-house solution. However, we eventually decided to go for the managed service. In this talk, we will explain why we made this decision.
